Cavan and Monaghan saw 44 new Covid-19 cases confirmed yesterday.
It’s a drop on Sunday’s figure when 59 cases were confirmed in the two counties.
Cavan today has recorded 31 cases while Monaghan has seen 14.
Cavan, however, remains the county with the highest 14-day incidence rate in the country at 824.4.
Monaghan’s rate has been dropping in recent days and now stands at 364.9 - the third highest in the country.
Nationally today 1,031 new cases of covid-19 have been confirmed and there have been no further deaths.
235 cases are in Dublin, 232 in Cork, 60 in Galway, 47 in Limerick, 47 in Kerry, and the remaining 410 cases are spread across 21 counties. 298 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised and 34 are in ICU.
There has now been a total of 50,993 confirmed cases of the virus in the Republic of Ireland since the beginning of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, 820 new cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Northern Ireland.
Six additional deaths have also been reported, taking the death toll there to 621.
In total, there are 261 confirmed cases in hospital, with 29 in ICU. Almost a quarter of hospital admissions over the last week have come from the Western part of the region.
