32 notifications to change commercial premises into homes in Cavan and Monaghan have been received to date.
The data was published by the Department of Housing today. The requirement for planning permission to convert certain types of vacant commercial properties into homes was lifted until the end of 2025.
25 notifications to convert have been received in Cavan, whilst 7 were received in Monaghan between 2018 and 2023.

Whilst the data doesn't display conversions completed, the Department says a potential 58 homes in Cavan, and 22 homes in Monaghan could be created as a result.
The Regulations, which include an exemption for the conversion of vacant pubs, will remain in place until the end of 2025.
