Three people remain in custody this afternoon following the serious assault of a man in Monaghan Town. Gardaí in Monaghan who are investigating the incident which occurred on Park Road on Tuesday night arrested three people yesterday. Those three individuals remain in custody this afternoon. Two men and one woman, all aged in their 20s were arrested yesterday afternoon and are all currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Garda stations in Co Monaghan.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this incident that occurred in the Mullaghmatt area of the town on Tuesday night to come forward. According to Gardaí, the man that was assaulted is in his 40s and is described as being in a critical condition. Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the Park Road area between 10pm and 11pm on Tuesday night is asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
