Three people have died in a crash in Carlow. A fourth person meanwhile is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This single car crash happened at around half eleven last night on the N80 at Leagh on the Wexford Road in Carlow. The driver and two passengers died at the scene, while another passenger, a man in his 20s, was taken to St Luke's General Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The scene is to remain sealed off for a number of hours today as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out examinations. Anyone who may have seen the crash, or anyone who has dash-cam footage, is being asked to come forward and make it available. Speaking in Brussels, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar expressed his sadness over the news, saying "our thoughts and condolences go to the families affected, and the community as well."
