Pauline Tully says Sinn Fein's decision to run a three-candidate strategy in the Cavan-Monaghan constituency has "worked well" for her party so far.
Following the final tally here at the Leisure Complex in Cavan Pauline Tully placed fourth at 6,478.
Elsewhere, her party colleague Matt Carthy topped the tally with 9,371. Whereas, general election Sinn Fein newcomer Cathy Bennett placed second at 6,936.
This is the second general election in which Pauline Tully has contested.
Deputy Tully told Northern Sound; "We've worked very much as a team. When asked about Sinn Fein's three-candidate strategy.
“We've always been thought about running a third candidate, and this time round it worked with how we were geographically placed with Cathy in North Monaghan, Matt in East Monaghan and myself in South Cavan”.
“I felt we were all well spaced out and so far it has worked well for us”. "The response at the doors was highly positive with people stating that they want change”.
“They feel the current Government is not working on so many levels. It's all to play for at the moment and I think our campaign in this constituency has worked well for us."
