250 undocumented people in Ireland have received their papers today.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee has congratulated them and highlighted the importance of the scheme for those who wish to regularise their status here.
Her department opened the scheme to regularise long term undocumented migrants back in January.
Today, officials have sent letters to the first of those whose applications were successful, of the 5,000 requests made so far.
Neil Bruton, Campaigns Lead with the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland says the applications portal remains open until July.
"One of things we hope the announcement today will do is to build confidence in the scheme," he added.
"We hope it will reassure those who are undocumented and who are still afraid about the scheme that they can apply and apply safely to get their status here in Ireland.
"People should go to our website, today, and apply."
