There's been a slight increase this afternoon in voter turnout for today's Referendums.
Polling stations remain open until 10pm for people to decide whether or not changes should be made to the definitions of Family and Care in the Constitution. There was a slow start to voting this morning with an average level of 10 per cent in some areas approaching lunchtime. However, it seems there's been a slight rise across the afternoon in some counties.
Kildare, Clare, and Tipperary are all seeing an average of between 18 and 20 percent as of this afternoon. Elsewhere figures around lunchtime show Kerry, Meath, Wicklow, Dublin City and County and Cork County recording turnouts of between 10 and 12 percent. In the West and Border counties returning officers say overall turnout has been low across the board, except for South Monaghan which has an estimated 25 percent average. It's expected the overall national result will be declared at Dublin Castle tomorrow.
