A 24-year-old man, who has only been in the country for three months, has been remanded in custody following a drugs seizure in Carrickmacross.
The search took place on Monday night as part of Operation Tara, which targets the sale and supply of drugs.
Gardaí obtained a warrant to search a premises in Carrickmacross at around 9pm on Monday night.
24-year-old Iliuta Olari, with an address on the Old Ardee Road in Carrickmacross, was arrested at the scene and appeared before a sitting of Monaghan District Court this morning.
Gardaí said there is "evidence of sale and supply" and added that Mr Olari was found with 100 cannabis plants and over 7 kilograms of cannabis herb, with an approximate value of €226,000.
Mr Olari's defence told the court that the accused has only been in the country for three months and is unemployed.
He's been remanded to Cloverhill Prison and will appear again before the Court on the 8th of November via video link.
