ESB Networks have confirmed there are approximately 23,000 customers without power in the Cavan and Monaghan as a result of storm force winds associated with Storm Isha. Crews are currently dealing with over 150 individual faults with the main areas affected including Ballyjamesduff, Ballyhaise, Cootehill, Cavan Town and Drumnaveil.
Emyvale is the worst affected area in the Northern Sound region for power outages. According to the ESB Networks Power Check website, there are currently 1,606 customers affected by storm damage in the Monaghan town. The next worst affected location in Monaghan is Clones with 715 customers affected while 214 homes and businesses in Drumbear, 54 in Telaydon and 13 in Lisdrum in Monaghan are also without power
Meanwhile, Cavan is also experiencing its fair share of disruption with 399 outages in Cootehill, 394 in Killeshandra and 151 customers in Kingscourt awaiting restoration of power. 30 outages are reported in Bailieborough. Nationally, the ESB reports bringing the number of homes and business without power down to 190,000 since repair work began overnight. According to the ESB, the estimated restoration time is, in most cases, 6pm tonight.
