A 23 year old man has been handed a life sentence, for the murder of 18 year old Cameron Reilly, who was found dead in a field in Co Louth four years ago.
Aaron Connolly of Willstown, Drumcar, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Reilly at Shamrock Hill, Dunleer, in May 2018.
On the morning of the 26th of May 2018, the body of 18 year old Cameron Reilly was discovered in a field in Drumcar Co Louth, with strangulation marks on his neck.
The Dundalk IT student had been drinking and socialising with around 15-20 others in a field in Shamrock Hill that night.
They’d left to get takeaway food before a small group returned to the field, Cameron's body was found there the next morning.
In a victim impact statement delivered by his uncle Darren Flanagan, Cameron was remembered as a 'happy go lucky' boy who loved music and attending concerts. He was also known as a popular teen among his friends and family.
Aaron Connolly was today sentenced to life in prison after a jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict last week.
