23 people are being treated on trolleys in Cavan General Hospital this morning.
All of the patients are on trolleys in the emergency department and there are no patients without a bed in any of the other wards in the hospital at this time.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation daily trolley watch says that, today, nationally, 453 patients are on trolleys in hospitals across the country. Whenever there is a situation like this in Cavan General Hospital, the advice for members of the public is to consider alternatives pathways for treatment other than A&E where possible. Cavan General continues to provide emergency treatment as required.
