Monaghan County Council has received approval in principle to construct 21 new homes near Mullaghmatt. Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien confirmed the news to Monaghan Senator Robbie Gallagher. The new housing development in Sli na Coile will consist of 21 new homes in total, 16 of which will be two bed and five of which will be three-bed. Senator Gallagher welcomed the news which follows closely to the recent announcement of 50 new social homes for the Latlorcan area.
According to Senator Gallagher, Monaghan County Council will proceed to construct these homes under council ownership as opposed to a social housing body which he says is a "positive." He went on to praise the work of the housing section at Monaghan County Council who he says have been extremely "proactive" in putting schemes forward to the department.
