Funding has been provided for a new bus at Monaghan Youth Diversion Project. Minister of State at the Department of Justice, James Browne, made the funding announcement during a recent visit to the local project.
Youth Diversion Projects (YDPs) work with young people at risk of crime and anti-social behaviour to divert them away from criminal behaviour and towards better life outcomes. Minister Browne says he saw first hand the positive impact the projects are having on young people in communities.
He added, the new bus will provide the Co Monaghan service with more options and help it accommodate more people for trips and excursions. Meanwhile, local Senator, Robbie Gallagher says YDPs are a key support to An Garda Síochána in the operation of its duties.
He added they provide a range of supports - including education, training and employment support, social enterprise initiatives, and personal development - that are vital services in all communities.
