The Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council has said he hopes 2023 can bring closure for the families of the Belturbet Bombing victims.
Cllr John Paul Feeley has said it is never too late for justice to be done and it is never too late for those who have remained silent for the last 50 years to do the right thing.
Speaking at a special commemorative event in Belturbet last week on the 50Th anniversary of the bombing, he welcomed the refocused garda investigation into the bombing that killed Gerdaline O'Reilly and Patrick Stanley.
The Cavan Councillor said he hoped that 2023 could possibly bring closure, justice, and peace for these two families and complete this horrendous chapter in the life of Belturbet.
