Alex Carolan Shannon from Carrickmacross has had her first book recently published at the age of 20. The book which is titled 'Family Secrets' was created by the Carrickmacross native who described having her novel published as a "dream come true."
Alex has been writing stories since the age of five and hopes that through her recent work, she can inspire other young writers. Speaking to Northern Sound, Alex revealed that ideas come to her out of "nowhere" and that she finds a personal connection to all of her fictional characters. The 20 year-old whose book is now available on Amazon also offered her advice to other aspiring authors across the local region.
When asked what advice she would give to someone who is either aspiring to have their work published or who perhaps are feeling disheartened by the constant knockback of publishers, Alex said; "Keep doing it, keep writing and keep doing what you love. The more you write, the more stories you come up with. Publishers may say no or that it may cost too much but you will find a way to get your book out there. No matter how long it takes, you will get your book out there and you will be recognised."
