21 candidates declared for GE in Cavan/Monaghan

21 is the largest number of candidates that has ever contested in Cavan/Monaghan.

21 candidates have been nominated to run in the up coming General Election in the Cavan/Monaghan constituency.

Nominations have now closed and this means the 21 people nominated will now contend for the five seats.

The constituency includes the entire area of both County Cavan and County
Monaghan, taking in areas like Cavan town, Monaghan town, Clones, Cootehill,
Belturbet, Bailieborough, Castleblayney and Carrickmacross. It previously
included parts of North Meath.

21 is the largest number of candidates that has ever contested a General Election in Cavan/Monaghan constituency resulting in a much longer ballot paper on November 29th. 

A full list of candidates can be found below.

The candidates are Deputy Brendan Smith (FF), Deputy Niamh Smyth (FF) Deputy Matt Carthy (SF), Deputy Pauline Tully (SF), Cllr T.P. O’Reilly (FG), Cllr David Maxwell (FG), Senator Robbie Gallagher (FF), Cllr Sarah O’Reilly (Aontú), Shane P O’Reilly (Independent Ireland).

Cathy Bennett (SF), Carmel Brady (FG), Joseph Duffy (Independent), Val Martin (Irish Freedom Party), Lester Gordon (Independent). Mark Moore (The National Party),Shane Mulligan (Liberty Republic), Emma Hendrick (PBP), Eddie O’Gara (Green Party), Feargal Joseph Deery (Independent), Jimmy Stavrous Mee (Independent) and Fergal Brides (Independent).
