The Department of Education has approved the go ahead for improvement works at St Mary’s Boys National School and also at the Convent of Mercy National School, Belturbet. The news was confirmed by the Department to Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith. According to Deputy Smith the funding will enable roof improvement works to be undertaken at St Mary’s Boys National School.
Funding has also been approved in respect of boundary wall/school yard improvement works at the Convent of Mercy NS. In a statement issued to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith complimented Principals, Ms Higgins and Ms O’Neill, their staff colleagues and the Boards of Management in submitting successful applications. He added that that he will be glad to continue to support both schools.
