Two Fianna Fáil TDs have been returned to the Dáil. Niamh Smyth and Brendan Smith were both elected following the 14th count in the Cavan-Monaghan constituency. Both candidates took the last two seats out of the five that were up for grabs.

Fine Gael's David Maxwell was the first to the first candidate elected during the early hours of this morning. This was followed by Sinn Féin's Matt Carthy and newcomer Cathy Bennett who took the second and third seat.

Sinn Féin's Pauline Tully will not be returned to the Dáil after she was eliminated following count 11. Aontú's Sarah O'Reilly also missed out on a seat. Cavan-Monaghan is the last constituency in the country to return the final TDs to the 174 TDs who will make up the 34th Dáil.
