A Monaghan councillor has confirmed that two separate housing estates have been taken in charge by the local authority in the Ballybay area. The taking in charge process for both the Alders Estate and the Ardveagh Estate was approved at a recent sitting of Monaghan County Council. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Seamus Coyle made a particular reference to the long-running campaign in relation to the Alders Estate which goes back as far as late 2017.
Cllr Coyle described the situation as a "total embarrassment" and praised the work and efforts made by local residents, Monaghan County Council and members of the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District in getting this over the finish line. He added that this announcement will be of major relief to local residents and described it as "great news" for the wider Ballybay area.
