The family of the late Shane O’Farrell feel the whole justice system failed their son.
Journalist Mark Tighe, who spoke to the Wider View this afternoon, highlighted the emotions of the family after the courts dropped the case against two of three gardai who were facing disciplinary procedures over errors they made during the course of the investigation into Mr O’Farrell’s death.
The 23-year-old law graduate was killed by a hit-and-run driver - Zigimantas Gridzinska - as he cycled near his home in Co Monaghan 10 years ago.
The driver subsequently hid his damaged car in bushes near his home, several kilometres away and presented himself at Carrickmacross Garda Station the following day, 3rd of August.
