As at 8.30am today (Tuesday), approx. 18,250 customers are without power across both counties following widespread and extensive damage as a result of Storm Éowyn (this figure is down from a peak of approx. 55,000 customers on Friday). All crews have commenced work once again from first light this morning.
The number is coming down slower as new faults are being uncovered as our crews assess the network as part of the post-restoration. The ESB would also like to thank members of the public for continuing to report any damage to electricity infrastructure. Meanwhile, there are growing calls for the Dail to be recalled in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn. The Sinn Fein leader has written to the Taoiseach asking him to bring politicians into the Chamber. The Dail is on a two week break to allow the new Ministers to bed into their roles.
