13 sheep were mauled by dogs outside Kingscourt in the early hours of Wednesday morning. 28 sheep were attacked in total with a further five euthanised in the aftermath of the attack.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Monica Reilly whose husband Alan discovered the sheep, said the animals were found dead and bloody in ditches and hanging from wire. She says the injuries they sustained were "horrific" and the remaining animals have been left stressed and worried. Monica added, that while those sheep are traumatised and will never be the same again, the matter has now been referred to the Gardaí in Bailieboro.
"The Bailieboro Gardaí are helping us and investigating what happened. Please God they get enough information so they can get these dogs and have them destroyed before they attack more sheep or even children. They are vicious, if you saw the damage they did; they are vicious," said Monica.
