St Brigid's National School in Redhills, Cavan has been granted permission to build two prefabricated classrooms.
This will allow the rural school to make a future expansion which will include two special educational needs classrooms and a mainstream education classroom.
As such, the current plan is described as an interim development pending permission for the future building project, which has already been approved by the Department of Education.
The two classrooms will be in a single storey prefabricated building, together with the retention of two existing prefabricated classrooms that were previously erected at the school.
The temporary on-site car park and separate access road will also be retained to facilitate the future expansion.
