Over 1,600 people in Cavan and Monaghan are currently waiting for a driving test.
At the moment only essential workers are allowed sit a test.
Freedom of Information figures show that of January 28th, 1,626 people are waiting for a driving test at a test centre in either county.
1,045 of those are in Cavan, but over 42 per cent of all applicants in the county are ineligible for a test right now because they haven’t completed the required 12 lessons.
Monaghan has one of the lowest number of people waiting for a driving test in the country at 581.
The list has grown by 27 per cent nationwide since October, with the RSA saying the wait time is currently at 20 to 30 weeks.
