1570 people have waited on a trolley at Cavan General hospital so far in 2024.
The INMO compile the figures from Monday to Friday each week throughout the year. According to the daily Trolley Watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, yesterday seen 25 people on trolleys at the local hospital with the number reducing to 9 today.
Staff at Cavan General Hospital protested during their lunch break last month over staffing levels within the facility.
Cavan Councillor Shane P O'Reilly who is running for Independent Ireland in the Cavan-Monaghan constituency in the upcoming election says he knows the great work the staff do first hand at the hospital. He says morale is on the floor and the problem isn't at local level it's at national level.
