A driver has been detected driving 80kph above the speed limit in Cavan.
Gardaí are beginning their Christmas Road Safety Campaign today which will operate until the 6th of January. One of the highest speeds detected so far was a driver on the R188 at Drung where a driver was clocked at 141kph in a 60kph zone. Elsewhere a driver in Monaghan was detected at a speed of 128kph in an 80kph zone on the N2 near Drumcaw.
Gardaí are appealing to motorists to slow down and pay full attention to the road
