A 14-year-old boy who died after getting into difficulty swimming in a north Monaghan lake has been named locally.
Adam McCormick had been airlifted to Temple Street Children's Hospital following reports of a suspected drowning incident at Hollywood Lake, at around 4pm on Sunday.
He was pronounced dead at the Dublin hospital yesterday.
In a statement to Northern Sound News, Gardaí say they are treating the matter as a tragic accident and a file will now be prepared for the Coroner.
It's the fourth local fatality in waterways in the past week, and eight people have drowned on the island of Ireland in recent days.
Local councillor Cathy Bennett contacted Northern Sound to extend her "sympathy to his family and friends at this very sad time".
