There are 13 people waiting on a bed at Cavan General Hospital this afternoon.
504 people are waiting on trolleys in hospitals around the country according to INMO. 355 are in emergency departments, while 149 are in wards. 7 people are waiting on a bed in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
Hospital management at Cavan General are advising that the Emergency Department is experiencing high volumes of patients and
remains busy following the Christmas period. They say they expect the facility to remain busy into the New Year. In addition, the hospital is managing multiple COVID and Flu outbreaks.
Hospital management say that the ED is still available if you need emergency care but would appreciate your
support in using alternative pathways for non-emergency care e.g. GP, Pharmacy, Minor Injuries Unit in Monaghan Hospital which is open 7 days per week 8am to 8pm.
