A Co Cavan 12-year-old will be cycling 123km from the Beacon Hospital in Dublin to Cuan in Cavan this weekend.
Its all in an effort to to raise funds for Cuan because his family have been so supportive by the local organisation. Billy Lord said he wanted to give back after his mam was diagnosed with breast cancer in December. Since then, Cuan have been a constant in his families life.
On Saturday he will cycle from The Beacon Hospital in Dublin, to Cuan in Cavan, a distance of 123km accompanied by his Dad, to symbolise the journey his Mum made each week for her treatment.
All funds raised here will go directly to Cuan Cancer Support Centre Cavan. Speaking to Northern Sound, Billy's mother Stephanie says they would like to ask people who see Billy along the route on Saturday to give him a bit of encouragement and support.
There will also be an opportunity for people to come to the Cuan Centre in Cavan to meet Billy at the finish line in around 1pm on the day. His mother says it's wonderful that so far the 12 year old has raised over €18,000 with his fundraiser.
