ESB crews are dealing with over 250 individual faults, the majority of which are in the general Cavan area.

The ESB say that approximately 10,000 customers across Cavan and Monaghan remain without power following storm Isha. And, in a statement, the energy provider said that "due to the scale of the damage to the electricity network, many customers will be without power for a number of days." ESB told Northern Sound their crews are dealing with over 250 individual faults, the majority of which are concentrated in the general Cavan area. The areas where customers remain without power include Ballybay, Cootehill, Clones, Croaghan and Drumsillagh. Meanwhile, in Monaghan the council report that over 100 trees have been tossed during storm Isha.

In a statement, ESB said all available resources and sub-contractors "worked into the night and mobilised again at first light this morning to safely restore power to as many customers as possible." However, the supplier went on to warn that "the Met Éireann status yellow level wind warnings for Storm Jocelyn may hamper restoration efforts later today." The ESB apologised "for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes" and thanked customers for their patience.

Siobhan Wynne of ESB Networks said the company had restored power to 178,000 homes nationally but there is "still a lot of work to do". When asked if the restoration times posted to the ESB PowerCheck website are accurate, Siobhan said it is difficult for the company to be completely correct: "They're as accurate as we can make them," Ms Wynne said, "It's a difficult enough task to estimate the time that every single customer will be back so it is our best estimate. We do try to keep them up-to-date as possible so it's worth checking in each day to see if there has been an update so, they're as accurate as we can make them but, it's not an exact science."
