A local councillor says Cootehill "will be at a loss" because plans for a new social housing development were voted down.
Yesterday, members of the Bailieborough-Cootehill MD voted to refuse a Part VIII planning application that would have seen 28 houses built in the town.
The decision was said to be made in light of concerns by residents of an adjoining housing estate over a shared entrance.
Aiden Fitzpatrick, who proposed the motion to not proceed says he's still keen to see houses built in the town, once there are no objections.
Sinn Fein's Paddy McDonald failed to get support for an amended plan to develop 24 houses at the site.
