Other Services
Our experience and expertise gives us the capability to offer a wide range of specialist services related to hearing and hearing health. In addition to a standard hearing evaluation, we can provide advanced diagnostics not normally found in general practice. These are advantageous where they may be complicating factors not readily identifiable through a basic hearing test.
Micro-suction is generally regarded as being one of the safest and most-effective methods of wax removal. Unlike the traditional methods of ‘syringing’ or ‘irrigation’ which use water; micro suction is an entirely dry procedure. It uses a gentle suction technique to remove wax. The procedure is completely pain-free. Unlike ‘syringing’ and ‘irrigation’ it does not necessarily require any pre-treatment.
“Prevention is better than cure” certainly applies to hearing protection. Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) accounts for a significant proportion of reported hearing issues. Whilst there are no current statistics available for the Irish population; a recent UK report on Hearing Loss serves to highlight the potential effect of the problem. There are an estimated 10 million people in the UK experiencing a hearing loss.
Hearing aids themselves are not a universal panacea for solving hearing problems. We can advice on, supply and also fit an extensive range of Assistive Listening Devices.
The Health And Safety Authority (HSA) provides a comprehensive guideline document covering work place noise safety. The publication is entitled “Guidelines on Hearing Checks and Audiometry Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application).

We offer a number of audiological services to compliment and support a GP’s practice for hearing health and hearing related issues. Our Hearing Audiologists are University educated and qualified. Professionally registered they have many years of practical experience.
Ototoxicity and Hearing The effects of Ototoxic medications are well documented* and audiological monitoring of patients during treatment should be routine clinical practice.
Our Hearing Monitoring service sets a baseline hearing evaluation which can be used to observe any changes to the hearing over a period of time.
Tympanometry measures should not be interpreted in isolation. Tympanometry is part of a complete test battery and outcomes from other audiological tests.
