Esker Lodge is 5 minutes walk from Cavan town. We provide a home away from home for 70 people. Our goal is to promote a relaxed environment where individuals can flourish and also feel part of a close and caring community. We provide a relaxed setting with caring and courteous staff. Our values enshrine respect for the dignity, independence and privacy of everyone in Esker Lodge. We are forward-thinking, enabling individuals to contribute to the community as well as engaging in meaningful occupation. We are the only private nursing home in Cavan providing independently accredited, innovative dementia-specific care. Our environment is developed in line with best practice dementia design principles coupled with independent quality assurance programmes.
We provide care to people living with different needs, including people living with a dementia. Esker Lodge is the first nursing home in Ireland to be awarded the Gold Standard Accreditation Award from the University of Stirling; a centre of excellence and thought leader for dementia-specific care in Europe.
Our home is designed to offer a relaxed comfortable environment and is divided into two main areas; Killykeen and Dun A Ri. Both single en-suite and shared en-suite bedrooms for couples are available. Our home offers many comfortable spaces both private and shared which are available to our residents as and their families and friends allowing them spend quality time together.

Long Term Care
Esker Lodge provides long term care for people who have become more dependent and also have a variety of care needs ranging from assistance with daily life, palliative care, as well as dementia specific care and end of life care.
Dementia Specific Care
Esker Lodge has been providing award winning dementia specific care since 2010. We use innovative, diversional therapies to ensure that people with a dementia can continue to live happily in our community.
Convalescence Care
Sometimes people may require short term care or convalescence care. Esker Lodge provides short term care based on individual needs and also availability of accommodation.
Respite Care
We also provide respite care based on availability.
Nutrition for the Older Person
Eating well is important at any age however health issues and physical challenges can also make it more difficult for an older person. We focus on nutrition as well as hydration as key areas in health promotion for the older person.
