Ann was born December 24, 1933 in the Bronx to hard-working Irish immigrants from counties Wicklow and Leitrim. Ann met her husband Barney following his return from the Korean War. They fell in love and married in 1954. Together they raised their children with love, compassion and a deep faith in our Lord. Ann had great pride in all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She shared so much of herself and always made sure they each felt special, unique and important.
Ann was active in countless church and community groups throughout her life. She was always eager to meet people, new and old, and share her God-given optimism, love and knowledge, as well as her unwavering faith with all. Ann’s love for her country, as well and her Irish heritage, was evident by her hosting numerous Ceili’s, the many proud marches up 5th Avenue and baking mouthwatering soda breads,
Ann and Barney’s lives together, and their shared love for each other, has been inspiring to their family and friends. Their love has been a heart-warming story that proves that we should always choose joy, that we have more to learn, more to share, more to give and more to receive.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that you consider a donation to St. Vincent DePaul Society St.Theresa’s Church and for everyone to carry forward Ann’s spirit of generosity toward others by sharing a smile, a joke, a story and always showing gratitude to our heroic veterans for service to the country she loved so dearly.
