A Cavan councillor says funding which has been allocated for local greenways could turn projects which have been talked about for years into reality.
Fianna Fáil's John Paul Feeley added that the funding may be a sign of a "more positive disposition towards rural Ireland".
Minister Eamon Ryan announced over €4 million for 26 projects across the country today, with almost €1.3 million being allocated for greenway projects in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
