There are concerns over the future of maternity services at Cavan General
Hospital.
Local TD Niamh Smyth says she's been contacted by a number of stakeholders who say the Midwifery Led Unit at the hospital is set to close.
She's called on the RCSI Hospitals group to clarify the situation as she
says the news has caused "considerable shock" to staff, patients and people living in the area.
She says she's written to the Health Minister seeking more information on
the provision of the services in Cavan.
Deputy Smyth says there's a worry the closure of the unit could lead to the removal of all maternity services in Cavan.
